MCC CELEBRATES CULTURAL DAY ON 15TH APRIL 2025

Model Christian College celebrated its annual Cultural Day under the theme “Echoes of Culture: A Spectrum of Heritage and Identity” on 5th April, 2025 at the college auditorium.  The event witnessed a vibrant display of folk songs, folktales, traditional games and war cry.

Watienla Jamir, Director Horticulture (Retired), Advisor, Nagaland Flower Growers Society, Kohima, Watsu Telen, graced the ocassion as the special guest. Speaking on the occasion, she says that Nagas have long been practicing conservation and living a sustainable lifestyle. This has been our distinct cultural practice since time immemorial.

The speaker mentioned that customs of forefathers and even our local languages are on the verge of extinction. She stressed on preserving and embracing our traditional practises like our traditional clothing  and documenting it for our future generation. She mentioned that traditional arts and crafts should be practiced which will help sustain a living.

She encouraged the audience to teach and advocate, in conversation, storytelling within our community and on social media platforms. The programme ended with prize distribution to the participants, a vote of thanks delivered by Heanlen Angh, Cultural Secretary, MCCSC and closing prayer, Zashebonu Savi, President, MCCEU.
